how a verdict is made

Pons sees roughly 1,500 token launches a day. Nobody reads them all, so names, descriptions and logos get lifted from whatever is working and relaunched under a new wallet within minutes. DUPE MACHINE indexes every Pons v2 launch as it appears and compares it with every launch indexed before it.

what is compared

  • name and ticker, normalised (case, spacing and punctuation removed).
  • description text, exact after normalisation, for texts of at least 24 characters.
  • pitch: a text embedding of name plus description. Two pitches count as the same when their cosine similarity is 0.80 or higher; 0.93 and above is treated as the same text rewritten.
  • artwork: a 64-bit difference hash of the logo. A Hamming distance of 8 or less counts as the same image, so recolours and re-encodes still match.
  • wallet history: how many launches the deploying wallet made before this one, how many graduated, how many were copies or relaunches.

the four labels

original
nothing indexed before it matches.
copy
a different wallet reused an earlier launch's description, artwork, or name together with its pitch.
relaunch
the same wallet launched this token before.
lookalike
only the name or the ticker matches and the pitch is different. Ticker collisions such as AI or TEST land here.

who writes the sentence

A rule engine sets the label from the evidence above. When there is at least one match, or the wallet has a history, a language model receives the evidence and writes the one-line read and the two-sentence reason you see on the board. The model may move a label to a neighbouring one when the evidence is ambiguous, never from original to copy or back without a match. Launches with no match and no wallet history get a template sentence and no model call.

Every verdict is made once, at launch time, against what was indexed at that moment. A later launch can point at it, which is why an original's copy count grows, but the verdict itself does not change. Market numbers (volume, market cap, progress) are refreshed from Pons for 72 hours after launch.
